This mini course has 3 main parts: 1.) Learn the essentials you need to know before you begin your college search/admissions/application process. 2.) Get to know Carissa, how she mentors students through the college process. 3.) Ask questions! There will be a short time at the end for Q&A. Our mini lesson will cover the important aspects that you should know when it comes to beginning your college search and admissions process. We'll briefly cover: - What should you really be focusing on when researching a college? - What essential questions should you ask about Financial Aid & Scholarships to start the money conversations? - What are some resources that are recommended by independent college consultants to help you get started? As this is a mini class, the content covered is a broad overview so you can sample content, teaching, and mentoring style of Carissa's college prep courses. This course is great for late middle/early high school students who are just now starting to think just a little bit about college!

I've advised students on applying to colleges with two volunteer organizations for 9 years, worked as a college advisor for over 5 years, mentored many students through the transition from high school to college, and guided students to submit their best college applications formally since 2020.
I work with a wide range of students, from those applying to highly competitive (Ivy+) institutions to those deciding to attend community college. My students have been accepted to a large variety of colleges, including Brown, NYU Stern School of Business, University of Michigan, Purdue University, Whitman College, San Diego Christian College, and Kalamazoo College, to name just a few.
