This is a the pre-camp for the Reading Camp 3-part series. If your student has never learned about Chinese characters before they can start with this class to get a better grasp of the radicals (an alphabet of sorts for Chinese characters) as well as a pinyin primer so they can better pronounce the characters in use in Mandarin. We will briefly talk about radicals in part 1 of the series as well but if you haven't done characters before I highly recommend this class first. It is recommended that students take either the Mandarin Chinese Conversation Camp Part 0 or the whole Part 0-3 series to get a better grasp on pinyin and tones so they can pronounce the characters better but it is not recommended. You can find that class here: https://outschool.com/classes/mandarin-chinese-conversation-camp-pt-0-pinyin-and-tones-6Hw4bKWG?usid=NkO7ExQL&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link We will use videos, flashcards(Anki is recommended for this) for the radicals, activities to review, and linguistic advice for how to maneuver the tongue and mouth to make the different sounds in the language. Each day of the 2 week camp will have 4 parts: 10 minutes - pinyin or radical video 10 minutes - radical learning and practice 5 minutes - pinyin learning and review 5 minutes - radical review Week 1: The first 25 most common radicals and pinyin vowels and other endings Week 2: The next 25 most common radicals and finish the pinyin sounds
