Qué está incluido

18 reuniones en vivo
15 horas presenciales
Tarea
1 hora por semana. The students will have homework after each class. They will be asked recall and open-ended questions where they will have to apply what they learned to correctly answer the question. I ask that the students review what was what they learned every day. Optional: I ask that the students dedicate 20-30 minutes of study time each day.
Evaluación
The students will be assessed as they engage in discussions and as they interact in a question-answer session at the end of class. The students will periodically be given quizzes and/or formative assessments. This will guide my instruction. I will review what the students need.

In this 9-week course, students will learn about stoichiometry and thermochemistry. The students will find molar quantities of a reaction. The content is covered in the 3rd 9-week course in a conventional chemistry class. Engaged students learn content needed to successfully take assessments.

Week 1 - What is a Mole?
Week 2 - Molar Conversions
Week 3 - Molar Conversions
  - Molar Gas Conversions
Week 4 - Molarity
  - Calculations
Week 5 - Chemical Calculations
  - Mole to Mole, Mass to Mass
Week 6 - Exothermic Process
Week 7 - Endothermic Process
Week 8 - Reaction Kinetics
Week 9 - Collision Theory

The students will learn to use Avogadro’s number to convert between atoms and moles. The students will learn to use Avogadro’s number to convert between atoms and mass. This section will be taught using the periodic table, interactive simulations/games, pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The students will learn the idea that as the kinetic energy of colliding particles increases and the number of collisions increases, the reaction rate increases. This section will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The students will learn about the acid-base theory in addition to nuclear reactions. This section will be taught using the periodic table, interactive simulations/games, pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will improve their understanding of the composition of the world around them. They will improve their understanding of the periodic table and atoms. Engaged students will improve their ability to respond to Chemistry state assessment questions.
