In this 9-week course, students will learn about the history of atoms and atomic principles. The content is covered in the 1st 9-week course in a conventional chemistry class. Engaged students learn content needed to successfully take assessments.

The students will be able to develop models to describe the atomic composition of simple molecules. The students will learn that substances are made from different types of atoms. They will also learn that atoms form molecules that range in size from two to thousands of atoms. This section will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The students will learn that each pure substance has characteristic physical and chemical properties. This section will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The students will also be introduced to half-life and nuclear power. This section will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The 2nd 9-Week Chemistry course will start where this course ends.
