Love video games?! Love drawing?! Then this is the class for you! In this special 8 week semester art class students will learn how to draw key characters from popular video/computer games such as Zelda, Super Mario, Kirby, Minecraft, Roblox, Animal Crossing and more. 

Before learning how to draw we will discuss and ask questions such as: 'What makes this character design so unique?' And 'How can I create my own character using this style?' Through studying existing genres and character design your learner will have a great jumping off point to realising their own video game ideas, character design and drawing styles. All visual video game creation starts with fundamental drawing of the games characters. This is also a great way to introduce the character and get everyone excited about recreating them at home.

We will then move onto learning how to draw that weeks character. I will go through the class with easy step by step instructions so we can really practice the new skill we are learning. We will then ink and colour in our artworks. This course is perfect for complete beginners or intermediates wanting to improve and practice their drawing. Each week their will be an optional homework challenge for learners to create their own character for that weeks game that would fit into the style we have learnt!

My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well. I will also sensitively point out where there is room for improvement. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. I will use slides and live drawing to demonstrate and teach. The students will need some plain paper, an eraser, sharpener and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art, video games and how to draw!

Once we get to the last character the class will loop back round to Animal Crossing again and start from there so each student gets a chance to draw them all no mater where you start!
