In this ongoing class, students will have the opportunity to think, talk, and write about a specific character trait or virtue before applying it and sharing their experience.

On the first day, students will think, talk, and write about a specific character trait or virtue with their classmates. Topics will change on a weekly basis. They will talk about what it means, think of synonyms, and brain storm ideas surrounding the character trait or virtue. They will also discuss ways in which they can apply it to their lives or a particular situation. Students are not expected to have this answer right away, but are encouraged to continue exploring opportunities to practice the character trait or virtue. Learners will then write their own composition to incorporate these ideas. This will begin during class, allowing students to continue bouncing ideas off of each other and the teacher, but students may need more time to finish writing outside of class. These papers can be turned in as comments on the teacher's post. Individuals will need to find a way to implement the use of the character trait or virtue between the first and second days of class. They can jot down notes about their experience in order to speak about it during the second day of class.

On the second day, learners will talk about how they were able to apply the character trait or virtue to their lives or a real situation. If for some reason students were not able to actually apply it, they will talk instead about a fictional experience in which they could apply the character trait or virtue. If time allows, students will talk about the importance of the character trait or virtue and how the world might look if more people exhibited it.

Students are expected to value each other's opinions and thoughts. Learners are expected to be respectful and to celebrate the different experiences and perspectives of their classmates. Individuals will have the opportunity to contribute to the class in meaningful ways and without judgement. Note: Due to the interactive nature of this class, the minimum number of students must be 4. If the minimum number cannot be met, class will be postponed until the following week.

Hello! Thank you for sharing this time with me! My name is Mrs. Bloom, and I love teaching kids! My goal is to allow my students to experience learning hands on, and to encourage them to think and express themselves in a positive way. With over 20 years of experience working with kids in multiple capacities, including volunteering at camps, running kids programs, working as a teacher, and raising and homeschooling my own child, I have a huge variety of experiences from which I can pull to create fun and engaging classes for my students! Since we are expected to integrate information from multiple areas when we approach a problem in real life, my classes are taught from this interdisciplinary perspective. This allows students to ask questions, explore, and discover information that is interesting and relevant, motivating them to become lifelong learners. I can't wait for you to join me as we enjoy the art of learning!
