April 22 is the official International Earth Day! Earth Day activities teach kids how to reduce their carbon footprint, appreciate everything the earth gives us and take steps towards protecting the environment. When we share information in a manner that is both fun and enlightening, it will inspire kids to do more to make our world a healthier place for future generations. 1. Icebreaker Activity: We will start with a short Show and Tell of items students find on a nature walk. This will be in the description for students to have completed prior to coming to the classroom. 2. Activity 1 Model of the Earth (Supplies: blue and green Play-Doh (may contain wheat), construction paper, and a towel for cleanup.) 3. Activity 2 Clean up the environment lab will demonstrate how oil spills can harm animals. (Supplies: 2 feathers, drawing paper, pencil, magnifying glass (or use a cellphone to take a pic and enlarge for close observation), cooking oil, detergent, small bowl, tray to catch spills) 4. Activity 3 Craft - A yummy treat! Children will recreate what lives in soil with Oreo cookies, gummy worms, and Chocolate Pudding Cup. 5. Closing discussion: How can we help keep our Earth healthy and clean? If time allows we may view a Youtube video through the share screen on Earth Day.

Hello, My name is Patricia Valdez. I've been teaching for over thirty-five years now. I love teaching!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Art. Plus, I am a lifetime certified, secondary teacher.
Besides teaching Science, I teach English to children around the world. This has given me six years of experience teaching online via the internet. Engaging students is what I enjoy doing.
I have taught all types of Science at the elementary, high school, and university levels. I have taught in public, private, charter schools, and homeschoolers. As you can see, my nickname Froglady is due to my hopping from here to there. This is because I am a contracted Science teacher who has been doing this for a very long time.
I would like the honor of teaching your child. I am happy to prepare them for what lies ahead. Teaching is my greatest joy in life.
