🌟First class on Outschool? Use code SarahSk20 for $20 off!🌟 Has your learner always dreamed of a career working with animals? For kids who love animals and the environment, a career in wildlife biology may be just the spot for them. Whether it be in zoos, aquariums, the lab, or the field, working with wildlife allows you to feel a sense of empowerment to help save our planet. In this one-time class, we will discuss the many types of positions that are available in zoos and aquariums, along with positions that are hands-on in the environment. We will discuss the schooling it takes to become eligible for the positions and the other important training required to make your learner stand out amongst a group of applicants. We will dive into the tasks required with each position so your learner can decide which role would be the best fit for them. As a former educator at zoos, aquariums, and nature centers with experience working with park rangers and state wildlife biologists, I am well versed in the many roles and responsibilities of a variety of roles! We will use a Google presentation with photos and videos to demonstrate the wonders of working with animals.

Hi there!
My name is Sarah and I am so excited to explore wildlife, science, and conservation with your learner. I was born and raised in the Metroparks of Ohio, but I currently call the Sonoran Desert of Arizona my home.
I have had a strong love for wildlife and nature for my whole life and have built my career around it. In 2017, I graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Conservation Biology and Ecology. I am a Certified Environmental Educator in Arizona and a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.
After college, I worked on several wildlife studies in the field studying species like the western diamondback rattlesnake, spectacled rattlesnakes, and Bahamian rock iguanas. I gained experience as an informal educator developing programs for schools and homeschool students at the Phoenix Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, South Mountain Environmental Education Center, and SeaLife Aquarium.
At the start of COVID, I founded an organization that creates wildlife and conservation STEM resources for K-8 students, including a science curriculum program that teaches core science subjects with an engaging animal twist.
My greatest objective as an educator is to make science FUN. My classes cover important science topics while using wildlife and nature as our driving forces.
