Learners will explore spectacular landmarks, dive into rich histories, and learn about local customs and dialects. This cultural journey will include Spanish vocabulary, expressions, and an interactive activity to reinforce what we’ve learned. 💃 Day 2 – Dance & Movement: Discovering Vallenato Carlos Vives is a beloved Latin artist known for promoting Vallenato, a Colombian dance and music style recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s cultural heritage. We’ll explore its history, watch it in action, and then get moving in a guided dance session using Spanish movement words and expressions. 🎶 Day 3 – Latin Music Exploration: "La Bicicleta" We'll dive into Latin American music by exploring “La Bicicleta” by Shakira and Carlos Vives. We’ll finish the session with a fun, music-based Spanish activity. 🍽️ Day 4 – Cooking Day: Taste the Culture Our final session is a flavorful journey into Latin American cuisine with a cooking demo inspired by Colombia. We’ll learn food-related Spanish words while preparing traditional Arepas and a refreshing tropical fruit drink. Families are welcome to cook along at home — parental guidance recommended for younger chefs. 🌟 Language & Teaching Style This camp is conducted primarily in Spanish immersion, using visuals, movement, and repetition to help learners feel confident and engaged. English is used only when needed for clarity. My teaching style is interactive, supportive, and fun, ensuring learners feel encouraged and included. Each session includes an activity, song, or cultural exploration to apply vocabulary and build real-world language skills. 🎯 Who This Camp Is For Sabor de Verano is ideal for learners ages 8–12 (or 13–18 in our teen sessions) who are excited to explore Spanish through culture—not worksheets. Whether your child is a beginner or has some Spanish experience, this camp welcomes everyone with curiosity and a love of music, movement, and global discovery. 👨🍳 Parent Note – Cooking Day (Day 4) Our cooking session is a light, hands-on experience introducing traditional Latin American cuisine. We’ll prepare a Colombian dish (Arepas) and a fruit-based drink, designed to be simple and kid-friendly. While we won’t be using advanced culinary techniques, learners should be comfortable: Using measuring cups/spoons Cutting soft fruits Using a frying pan (with adult support if needed) Helpers are welcome for safety but should remain off-camera per Outschool policy. 🍽️ Allergy & Ingredient Info We keep the exact recipes a surprise for a fun experience! That said, common ingredients may include: Dairy (mozzarella cheese) Cornmeal (used in Arepas) Fresh fruit (variety may vary) Some fruits may be associated with Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS) for those with sensitivities to apples, bananas, melons, peaches, or kiwi. PARENT NOTE: Our cooking day will be a fun, hands-on experience in the kitchen, but it does require some basic cooking skills. While we won't be undertaking advanced culinary techniques, students should be comfortable with using measuring cups/spoons, cutting fruit, and using a frying pan. If necessary, students are welcome to have a helper for supervision during this class, as long as the helper remains off-camera.
We're excited to share that we will be preparing a traditional Colombian dish and a refreshing fruit drink during our cooking session, but we want to keep the exact recipes a surprise to make it more fun! However, we understand the importance of dietary restrictions and allergies. Please be aware that the recipes may include common allergens such as dairy (in the form of mozzarella cheese), corn (as cornmeal), and a variety of fruits.
Fruits that will be used could potentially cause oral allergy syndrome (OAS) in people who are allergic to certain types of pollen. Common fruits associated with OAS include apples, bananas, melons, peaches, kiwis, and others.
Once you're enrolled in the course, we will send out the full recipes including all ingredients and any potential allergens. If you or your child has any specific dietary restrictions or allergies, please feel free to message me before enrolling, and we will do our best to provide a suitable alternative or solution. Thank you!

As a teacher with a master's degree in Spanish language and culture, and a bachelor's degree in philology and languages, I have extensive knowledge and experience in the Spanish language and its diverse cultural nuances. My studies have allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the Spanish language, its grammar, and its historical context. Additionally, I have lived in Spanish-speaking countries and have immersed myself in their cultures, allowing me to gain a first-hand perspective on the traditions, customs, and values of these communities.
My thesis and research on "El uso del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial en la clase de ELE" (The Use of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Spanish as a Second Language Classroom) serves as a testament to my in-depth knowledge of Spanish culture and my ability for integrating cultural concepts into language acquisition.
I have investigated how several cultural aspects—like holidays, customs, and historical factors—relate to language learning through my research.
