|Campamento Boom! 4 | Sistemas de ecuaciones lineales | Campamento de verano

"¡Boom! ¡Lo logré! ¡Sé resolver un sistema de ecuaciones lineales!" Esto es lo que dirá tu alumno al final de este mini campamento de 25 minutos, que se realiza 3 veces en 1 semana, en el que los alumnos pasan de los conceptos básicos de gráficos lineales, trazando e interpretando gráficos con facilidad, a este curso en el que resolvemos sistemas de ecuaciones lineales.

Experiencia de clase

We're going to learn how to set up, interpret, and solve a system of linear equations. The concepts here are so important, not only for business and in everyday life (as with the example I gave in the intro about using a certain amount of fund for movies and popcorn).

It's also extremely crucial for all STEM fields. So much so that in computer coding, whole fields of math are dedicated to teaching software developers how to take systems of multiple equations and use their coefficients of each of the vairable to form matrices which can be solved using computers. Lost? Don't worry- we're not anywhere close to that!

But what we will deal with is just two equations with two unknown variables. Well show what the two equations in the systems means on a coordinate plan and then show ways to solve for each of those variables.

Once we understand how it's done, we'll take that knowledge and apply it to word problems.

Day 1:
We'll learn what is a system of linear equation and look for examples of how it shows up in real life. We'll discuss what the solution of the pair looks like graphically and how to determine graphically and through the elements of the linear equations in the system how many solution the system has.

Day 2:
We will learn how to determine whether and ordered pair is a solution to a system of linear equations. We learn how to solve the system of equations through substitution and elimination. We'll discuss how to choose which one to use.

Day 3:
We will apply systems of linear equations to word problems and practice our skill at these.

Students will first review concepts. We will then practice the easier questions and, as mastery develops, move to the harder questions. We apply the "I do"/ "We do" / "You Do" to the more difficult questions.

Thanks for having your learner study with me. I can't wait to see him/her in class!
Metas de aprendizaje
At the end of this course, you learner will be able to say, "I can identify a system of linear equation and solve it with more than one method. I can determine how many solutions a system of equation has." "I can solve word problems with systems of linear equations."

Orientación para padres
Parents should make sure their students are strong in their foundational understanding of linear equations. This includes the terminology and being able to describe linear relationships precisely, being able to plot lines easily and determine the linear equation from a plot, and to be able to follow and understand linear equation story problems.

I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.

The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.

It can be done! I used a focused approach. We honed in on trouble areas, really understood the underlying math concept, and drilled for mastery.
