⭐ According to the American, Canadian, and Australian Veterinary Medical Associations, the need for dedicated veterinarians is in high demand. And economists predict a heavy need for increased jobs in the industry well into the 2030's before possibly leveling out. The thing is, in order to go to vet school, students must have veterinary experience prior to school application. First time job-seekers and youth with limited experience and education can have difficulty snagging these spots. ✨✔🌟 Practicing your interview skills is an amazing first step into the vet world! ✨✔🌟 🧨🔆What Will Students Gain? 🔆🧨 Difficult and intimidating at times, practicing interviewing skills helps make students strong persons, stronger candidates. Practice helps build: - Resilience - Emotional intelligence - Confidence - Interpersonal communication skills - Critical thinking skills - Self Awareness 🦹🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ One of student's biggest concerns is their anxiety surrounding being on camera. Let's talk about this, 'cause I used to be the same way! I wanted to hide behind a mask and turn off my screen too. To recognize this and encourage students to push on, students are required to talk on camera. However, if video brings on anxiety, students may opt to practice the first interview with their cameras off (after verification). Cameras should be on the second interview. ** If accommodations for speaking times or other tasks are required, please contact the teacher before enrollment. We will accommodate disabilities as needed. Anxiety is real, and while we don't teach mental health, practice and exposure has been proven to often help students reduce anxiety in the workplace. This class is just practice! Some students enroll many times! 🐴🐈During animal emergencies, the veterinary staff is expected to think fast, act fast, be safe. 🐴🐈 In this class, students will be given a time limit for each question they answer. Thinking with a timer is not meant to intimidate students, but rather give students opportunities to practice handling stress in a safe, hypothetical manner. Working under pressure safely is critical in the veterinary industry. 💙🔹 How This Class Runs:🔹💙 1. Upon registration, students receive a hypothetical job description package in their welcome message. These job listings change randomly and frequently. 2. Students also receive a "Preparing for the Interview" PDF file. 3. Students review these files before the first class. 4. During interview one, 1-2 students participate in a 15-minute speed interview. Enter the classroom as if you are entering the interview. Students will answer questions one by one until a timer dings. 5. After interview number one, the teacher will send feedback and an interview tips PDF to help students prepare for interview number two. 6. During interview two, 1-2 students participate in a 15-minute speed interview. Enter the classroom as if you are entering the interview. Students will answer questions one by one until a timer dings. 7. After interview number two, the teacher will send feedback via syllabus with a score and future interview tips. Please Note: The job descriptions are fictional and in no way will a student be hired with the teacher or anyone else and no contact off the OS platform will occur per Outschool rules. This is just a practice exercise for those wanting to enter the animal industry.
