Welcome to Mr. John's Budding Virtuoso Music Class! I am a certified Instrumental Music teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching, performing, and writing music.

In this class, students will learn how to play, sing, and sign their way around the C Major scale. No instrument? No problem! Check out the link to the FREE PlayXylo xylophone that you can access on your device in the external resources section below. You’ll want to change the settings to the Boomwhacker colours and Solfege labels to seamlessly join in on the fun! CHROMA-NOTES 8-note C Major Diatonic Desk Bell Set (https://rhythmband.com/products/chromanotes-8-note-diatonic-deskbell-set) is highly recommended for this class, but students don't need musical background to join and enjoy! Orff instruments, such as glockenspiels or xylophones that are in the key of C will also work well for this class.

They'll learn about rhythm, melody, and harmony by playing listening games, learning familiar songs, improvising during class jams, and composing their own music! Solfege singing will help students understand the concept of a moveable "Do" and Kodaly hand signs will keep learners moving and engaged. These skills will set them up for success for any other musical adventures they may be curious about in the future!
