25 minutos horas de clase por semanaTarea
2-4 horas por semana. Daily practice is highly recommended. Learning a new musical skill takes time and correct practice. It is recommended that learners look at the rhythms and play them until they play the rhythms correctly. Then, rhythm players should play the rhythms correctly until they cannot play them incorrectly. It is impossible to know how much time each learner will need to accomplish this, but it's helpful to at least give 30 minutes of practice daily on all rhythms covered in class, especially focusing on more difficult rhythms. For best results, students should repeat exactly what was covered in class on non-class days.Evaluación
Learner progress will be continually assessed in class and immediate, positive, constructive feedback will be given. Learners should be ready and willing to demonstrate rhythms by themselves in class after they learn them and show their hands and instruments in class. In music, improvement is always the goal, and feedback can help us to learn better techniques for playing and correct rhythms.Experiencia de clase
Bucket drumming is so much fun to learn to do! If you know how to read music and can play easy rhythm patterns on a bucket, this class is for you. You will just need a large bucket and some drumsticks that are the same size and thickness. This class is fast-paced, small-group-sized, and fun. You will learn how to play slightly more difficult rhythm patterns in different places on your bucket. We will practice rhythms before playing them along with a video. In this class, we will learn by playing and by repetition. This class does not teach beginning rhythm notation reading. Please refer to the beginner class, Bucket Drumming 101, Ongoing: Learn to Play Rhythms, to begin to learn to read rhythm notation. This class is fast and learners gain knowledge through experience rather than by direct instruction. Here is a sample of the class material for the first four weeks. Videos will vary, but the class structure and student experience will be very much the same each week to provide practice, reinforcement, and repetition until mastery is achieved. Additionally, students will learn a drum rudiment called the single stroke roll and practice it in variations occasionally throughout each season, as well as the flam. We will begin and end our class together with a little talking to build our friendships. Week 1 (August 28): Play rhythms with quarter notes (ta), half notes (ta-ah), pairs of eighth notes (ti-ti), groups of sixteenth notes (tika tika), and quarter rests (shh). We will practice whatever students show the most need for doing before we play along with a video or two. Students can play rhythms as a solo to show understanding when ready to do so. Students usually can choose between videos provided for them. Student choice is a big factor in our class experience. Week 2 (September 4): Play rhythms with quarter notes (ta), half notes (ta-ah), pairs of eighth notes (ti-ti), groups of sixteenth notes (tika tika), and quarter rests (shh). We will practice whatever students show the most need for doing before we play along with a video or two. Students can play rhythms as a solo to show understanding when ready to do so. Metas de aprendizaje
Students will improve their existing abilities for reading music and play slightly more difficult rhythms in various places on their buckets. Since this is not an entry-level or beginner class, we will maintain a fast pace to practice new rhythms as many times in the class period as is possible before playing the new rhythms with a play-along video. As time permits, we will review older play-along videos at the end of class.
