Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 1 - 3
This ongoing class meets 2X a week for eight weeks as learners listen to different stories each week. This class is designed especially for learners ages 6-9 years old who have a basic understanding of English and want to learn more, improve their English and speaking skills and have the desire to become a great story teller, whether they know it or not. Learners listen, think and predict what will happen next, how the story will end, what changes they would make, could they be a character in the story? or do they know someone who is like one of the characters?

These are teacher-directed lessons, each story read aloud by the Teacher as learners listen and participate by answering questions about what's going on in the story. Learners will follow Teacher directions to fold and number their drawing paper into sections to draw what's happening in the story, practice speaking English by participating in discussing the beginning, middle, end of the story, what happened first, second, last; naming characters, retelling and predicting, and changing characters, settings and endings using their creativity and imagination.

Learners will be given the opportunity to practice basic public speaking in a small, comfortable setting by retelling the story. Book titles and themes vary week-to-week so new learners can at enroll any time.

SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS: Shy learners may want to just listen to the story being read [story time] and draw their own pictures until they feel comfortable joining in discussions and responding in English.

I LOVE reading! and reading to others, especially children. As a Principal and educator of 50+ years, I always read in my classroom; as Tutor, volunteer teacher around the world and as a Principal to small and large groups of students at a time. Additionally, I was trained via classes at the Los Angeles Music Center on story telling methods. My love for reading began as a little girl, one who always had a book in her hand and even read under the covers at night when the lights were supposed to be out.

I LOVE reading and I'll help instill that love in your learner.
