This class is designed to give your athlete new ways to approach breathing during freestyle swimming.  We will talk about the science of swimming as it relates to the body/head position, the timing of the breath and head movement.  We will do specific movements/exercises to help with muscle memory in order to transfer the learning from dry land to the pool sessions.  

General class outlines are as follows;

2-3 minutes of welcome/greeting

2-3 minutes of activation (warming up the body)

5 minutes of review

20 minutes learning a new concept

We’ll spend most of our time on breathing movement patterns.  At times I’ll make use of effective videos from YouTube to bring a clear picture of the new concept.

Orientación para padres
Safety is always the top priority when doing anything physical. The movements are not strenuous but I always caution my athletes to stop and tell me if they feel any pain. The athlete needs to know the difference between pain and working through discomfort during exercise. It is important that your athlete listens well, follows directions and works at the pace I set. It is helpful for your athlete to be able to move the screen for me to view their standing/walking movements to viewing prone movements (lying or kneeling on the floor). Be sure to have a clutter-free space (no coffee tables or anything lying on the ground). Wear proper footwear and exercise clothing. Have a water bottle on hand. *Optional: yoga mat if working on a hard surface (we will be lying on the floor for some exercises)
Requisitos previos
Athlete should have some experience with swimming freestyle (front crawl) so they understand the context for breathing while doing this stroke.
