Have you ever smelled freshly baked bread before? Pretty magical smell, huh? Have you ever seen a big loaf of bread and thought "that seems WAY too hard to make? Well, it's actually SUPER easy and I'm here to show you just how easy. We will cover in this class: -the different types of bread you can make (yeasted vs. non-yeasted, knead vs. no-knead) -the science of how bread actually rises in the oven -actually make a soda bread dough to bake yourselves! We'll work together to make the dough using ingredients you probably already have in your house. We'll discuss basic baking measurements and practices, go over possible add-in flavor combinations, and discuss how to be safe using an oven. My teaching style is fun, informative, and engaging. No experience needed, just a desire to learn to bake bread!

This class requires the use of the following known allergens: wheat, egg. Some easy to find substitutes have been provided in the ingredient list but if you require more options, please reach out.
This class also requires use of an oven. Please ensure parental supervision is provided when your child bakes their bread after the class is complete. We will review oven safety prior to the class ending, but ultimately, nothing replaces parental supervision.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Nevada Certificado de Docencia en Educación especial
Maestría en Educación especial desde University of Nevada Reno
I like to blend fun topics into more serious subjects, like math, writing, and reading! My favorite lesson I ever taught was a reading lesson on The Lorax for Earth Day where we read the book, discussed ways to help our planet stay healthy, took a pledge to help keep our planet healthy and clean, and wrote letters to the Earth and the Lorax. This is the kind of teaching I like to do: find a larger topic that kids are interested in and tie academic work into that. I also love to teach kids about baking and cooking, art, and languages like ASL and Spanish.
I’m a currently licensed Nevada special education teacher with endorsements in Gifted and Talented Education, English as a Second Language, and American Sign Language, with a Masters in curriculum and instruction and a Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis in Special Education.
Something fun about me: I learned to read by watching Wheel of Fortune with my grandmother and I’m pretty sure my own son learned to read from us reading to him and subtitles on TV. I also love to cook with my kids.
