To begin, I will be reading the book, "The Day the Crayons Quit" to the learners and we will discuss some of the reasons that the different colored crayons were not happy with their colorful roles. When I finish reading the book, we will make a colorful snack, as I demonstrate step by step how to make colorful grapes to eat. After placing the grapes in the refrigerator for the gelatin to harden, we will make a Skittles rainbow.

The students will learn how to follow directions to complete the snack and to do the Skittles activity. They will also learn to communicate with each other as I ask them questions to have them discuss the things that I read.

To make colorful grapes, you will need green grapes, powdered Jello mix of 3-4 different colors, 3-4 cups or small bowls, a bowl of water, and a spoon or toothpick to put the grapes in the colored Jello powder. You will also need a plate to set them on as you color them. They will then go into the refrigerator to set. For the Skittles activity, you will need a white plastic or ceramic plate, a cup of water, and a bag of original Skittles.
