Please note: 2 student minimum for class to occur. This class is a discussion based atmosphere, learners will have assigned chaoters to read for each class as listed in the assignment section below. ***OPTIONAL- if you would like your learner to practice note taking and essay writing skills, an option is to contact Mike P to sign up for 3 additional 1:1 tutorial classes and a graphic organizer will be sent to you to use during the novel reading and then extra indiv. classes to write. We join together weekly for a highly thoughtful discussion on themes, exposition, figurative language, character development, settings, conflict, mood , foreshadowing, cliffhangers and much more as they appear in the book.Time will be spent on the character development especially as each character adds so much to the plot and has so much to teach the reading audience. This book pulls the reader in from the first page when we learn the back story of Charlie, the main character, Charlie has so much to process from other characters and to learn about herself. This book will inspire its readers, through our discussion on all the above and all levels of comprehension, about decision making,choices we all make and to reflect on the situations we all find ourselves in and how friendships and family builds in strength. My classes are always highly respectful and presented in a highly safe environment where every class member is expected to treat all others with total respect so that all are welcome to share thoughts and opinions.. Assignments: Before class 1, read to end of chapter 10 ( Remember to contact the teacher if interested in the graphic organizer/ evidence -based essay option.) Before class 2, read to end of chapter 20. Before class 3, read to end of book.
