In this one time book club class, the students will listen to a Chinese folktale called Two Of Everything by Lily Toy Hong. They will hear the story read with fluency and expression. They will discuss the funny parts in the illustrations. The students will be encouraged to make predictions about what will happen next as the story is read. Students will discuss the author's purpose and the moral of the story. Students will learn to make text to self connections. Students will further develop their reading comprehension. Students will continue to feel the joy of books!

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My teaching license certifies me to teach grades 1~6. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power. I can support your young learner.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw and label. Let's get started!
