Join us for this fun, highly energetic, and interactive book club. During this five week class, we will meet once a week to discuss and revel in the first of the Wingfeather Saga… On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson.

You do NOT want to miss our book club discussion of this beloved bestseller! The main characters are incredibly inspiring and courageous. The tale is deeply adventurous, full of intrigue and suspense, but not frightening. It is truly a delightful read, and will leave your student eagerly awaiting the next book! Full of characters rich in heart, smarts, and courage, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness is a tale children of all ages (and their parents) will cherish!

Janner Igiby, his brother, Tink, and their disabled sister, Leeli, are gifted children as all children are, loved well by a noble mother and ex-pirate grandfather. But they will need all their gifts and all that they love to survive the evil pursuit of the venomous Fangs of Dang, who have crossed the dark sea to rule the land with malice. The Igibys hold the secret to the lost legend and jewels of good King Wingfeather of the Shining Isle of Anniera.

In this multi-day class, we will meet once weekly for five weeks to dive deep into the first book in the series. During class time, full participation in class discussion is expected. There is grace for a shy student, of course, but students will be encouraged to dive into the discussion as they acclimate to the group. Each student will have a turn to share their thoughts and ideas. I will have questions and discussion prompts ready each week, should conversation lag. After our discussion time, we will end with a game if time permits! My book clubs are typically highly engaging, highly interactive, very lively!

Chapters will be assigned to be read ahead of time, before class. There are 51 relatively short chapters in this book. The book is also available as an audiobook! All of class time will be dedicated to discussing the books, applying critical thinking, discussing characters, plot, and other literary aspects, etc, and ending with a fun game, all related to the book. Our last class will be a book party! Snacks are welcome and encouraged! I am creating book clubs for each book in the series! Stay tuned!
