The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo is the story of Edward Tulane, a china rabbit who becomes lost from the little girl who loves him. This heart-warming story of being lost and found again will quickly draw your child in and become one of their favorite stories. During this 5-day course, we will take on the challenge of completing this chapter book in just 4 days! Learners will be asked to read 6 short chapters each day (averaging 40 pages) and complete the assigned...
- Predict story events. Engage in learning dialogues with the teacher and peers. Search the text to select appropriate information when answering questions. Practice using story clues and prior knowledge (schema) to make inferences about the story. Practice using context clues to discover the meaning of unknown words. Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings). Engage in critical discussion of shared texts. Read for the sheer joy of it, learning to value one another as readers and learners.
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is one of my favorite books. I read this story every year to my students when I taught in the classroom. Each year we would laugh and cry together as we would go on a journey with Edward. It would be my pleasure to share Edward’s journey with your child.

Prior to our first session, no reading needs to be completed. We will begin the story together. A detailed schedule is attached to the provided class file. After our first class, I will attach a file of the assignments needed in the classroom section. I will also remind learners after each session which chapters to read and what assignment to complete. *Please do not read ahead of our schedule so that we can all enjoy the story together.

You may also write your answers on a separate sheet of paper. -Monday's homework: coloring supplies for “My Edward” activity.
