Join Ms. Carol, and friends in this once weekly, 4 week book club as we read and discuss this delightful, enchanting classical story of make believe and magic! Believe me, book is far better than the movie! J. M. Barrie’s immortal Peter Pan has fascinated and delighted readers of all ages for more than a hundred years and the tale remains one of the most adapted works of all time. Buzzing with adventure and children who can fly, in Neverland Peter Pan defeats Captain Hook and rescues Wendy and the Lost Boys who return to live their lives while he spends his never-ending childhood in a mythical place populated by fairies, pirates, mermaids, and from time to time, other children from the outside world. In this multi-day club, we will meet once weekly for 4 weeks to dive deep. During our time together, full participation in discussion is expected. There is grace for a shy student, of course, but students will be encouraged to dive into the discussion as they acclimate to the group. Each student will have a turn to share their thoughts and ideas. I will have questions and discussion prompts ready each week, should conversation lag. After our discussion time, we will end with a game if time permits! My book clubs are typically highly engaging, highly interactive, very lively! Chapters will be assigned to be read ahead of time, before class. There are 17 chapters in this book. The book is also available as an audiobook! All of class time will be dedicated to discussing the books, applying critical thinking, discussing characters, plot, and other literary aspects, designing a book cover, and ending with a fun game, all related to the book. Snacks are always welcome! Please read chapters BEFOREHAND! Chapters 1-4 Chapters 5-8 Chapters 9-12 Chapters 13-17

Orientación para padres
In this book, there is a tribe called the Piccaninnies that are portrayed negatively, as are pirates. One of my core values is to teach children to think critically, and to apply that to everything they read. Racism or racial stereotypes are never acceptable to me, even in a fictional, magical world.
