Throughout the semester, students will explore different organs and systems of the human body. Each week focuses on a specific area, covering its anatomy (structure), physiology (function), and related pathology (diseases). This comprehensive approach gives students a well-rounded understanding of how the human body works.

Key Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the basic structure and function of major body organs and systems
2. Explore the relationships between different body parts
3. Develop critical thinking skills through analysis of medical cases
4. Gain hands-on experience through interactive activities and drawings
5. Build a foundation for future studies in biology and healthcare

Ideal for:

• Homeschool curricula
• Pre-teens interested in nursing or medicine
• Students considering future careers in healthcare

Course Structure:

This introductory series follows a full semester format with the flexibility of ongoing enrollment. Classes meet once a week, with topics rotating each semester. Students may join at any point, as each class is designed to be self-contained. No prior knowledge of anatomy or science is required.

Class Format:

Sessions are structured to be interactive and engaging. Students will use Nearpod.com for participating in lectures, hands-on labeling activities, drawings, quizzes, and games. The curriculum includes exploration of medical cases. Weekly study guides are provided to support learning outside of class time.

Topics by Week (Fall Semester):

• Week of Sept 9: Genetic Foundations: Exploring DNA and Heredity

Hi everyone! I'm Miss Tran, and I'm delighted to be your tutor through the world of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Math and physics.

I hold a Master of Science in Biology with a specialization in Physiology with over ten years of experience teaching. My passion lies in fostering scientific curiosity and helping students see the connections between classroom learning and the world around them.

I've had the privilege of instructing courses ranging from university-level genetics to middle and high school math and physics, giving me a unique insight into how students learn and progress through different stages of their education.

My academic background, combined with my experience in tutoring and teaching at various levels, has honed my ability to break down complex concepts into digestible, engaging lessons.

My teaching philosophy centers on active learning, critical thinking, and creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable exploring new ideas. I believe in the power of hands-on experiences and visual aids to make abstract concepts tangible and memorable.

In our sessions, you can expect:

🔢 1. Connections between learning and real-world applications

🔢 2. A focus on critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills

🔢 3. Engaging, hands-on activities that bring abstract concepts to life

🔢 4. Preparation for advanced studies and standardized tests

🔢 5. A supportive atmosphere that encourages exploration and discussion

My approach is rooted in the belief that science is not just a subject to study, but a way of thinking and exploring our world. I strive to create an environment where curiosity thrives and where students learn to ask questions, analyze data, and draw conclusions like real scientists.

Additionally, I have extensive experience in preparing students for university placement and AP exams. Through specialized tutoring programs, I've helped numerous students navigate the challenging terrain of advanced science coursework and standardized testing, ensuring they're well-equipped for success in higher education.

In addition to my teaching experience, I've contributed to published research in radiotherapy and oncology, which has strengthened my understanding of how fundamental chemistry concepts apply to cutting-edge medical treatments. This real-world application of science is something I'm excited to share with my students.

If you're looking to get started with science, prepare for academic challenges, or simply gain a deeper understanding of the world around you, I'd love to hear from you!

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you're looking for a specific topic or schedule. I'm here to help you navigate your scientific adventure!
