Hands-on learning is very vital for young learners! As a math teacher, I love to incorporate hands-on activities to influence and intrigue young learners to know and love math! In this 12-week math club, your child will use Play-Doh and a number bond (PDF attached below for printing before class) to determine the sums of many addition equations within sums of 20. Using a number bond, your child will apply "part + part = whole". (Examples: 1 + 3 = 4, 5 + 5 = 10, 2 + 2 = 4) I will use Google Slides to show the addition equations for students to use. This class is beneficial for learners that have previously learned the concept of addition and addition facts in Kindergarten and First grade. This class helps review the concepts of addition within 20. We will be meeting once per week for 25 minutes. I have attached a syllabus to explain what we will be learning in each class. Feel free to have your child join us at anytime! From previously teaching Kindergarten, I know this is a great and beneficial class for your young learner to prepare for kindergarten and first grade, as well as, learners already in kindergarten and first grade. This class is aligned to the Common Core State Standards K.OA.2 and 1.OA.6. **If your learner has an allergy to Play-Doh, then you are able to bring any other alternative dough for your learner to use instead of Play-Doh.**
