This 1:1 tutoring helps improve student's understanding of the Ancient World, the Medieval Period and the Early Modern History. Worksheets with different student-centred activities will be provided every lesson. Every week, we will look at a particular topic where students will gain general knowledge, understand historical context, expand upon ideas and evaluate different factors that affect these major events in history. Students will take a detailed look at the rise and fall of different empires and its rulers, religions and rebellions; major events during the Medieval period and the Early Modern History. From their villages to their inventions, students will learn about these fascinating people and their tumultuous history. The course will include group discussions in the weekly live session; guided comprehension questions, video clips, worksheets; key word lists/ glossary and a supplementary activity. They are suitable for students aged between 11-14 and include revision material and assessments (if required). This course is ideal for ESL/ EFL (English as a Second/ Foreign Language) and international students. Week 1-2: Ancient Egypt Week 3-4: Ancient Greece Week 5-6: Ancient Rome Week 7-8: Feudalism Week 9-10: The Black Death Week 11-12: The Medieval Life Week 13-14: The Crusades Week 15-16: The Islamic Civilisations Week 16-17: The Gunpowder Plot Week 18-19: The Magna Carta and the Parliament Week 20-21: The Renaissance and the Reformation Week 22-23: Revision/ Assessment (optional) UPDATE! Week 1-2:
Describe the historical background of Ancient Egyptian civilization through time periods;
Identify the features of Ancient Egyptian society, including the government, social structure, system of writing, religion, and medicine;
Identify the famous pharaohs and their contributions;
Explain the significance of Egyptian invention and technology.
Week 3-4:
Describe the historical background of ancient Greek civilisation through time periods;
Identify the features of ancient Greek society, including the government, social structure and culture;
Identify the prominent philosophers and leaders;
Explain the significance of contributions to modern knowledge.
Week 5-6:
Trace the history of ancient Rome from its origins to the Republic and the fall of the empire;
Discuss how significant was the rule of the triumvirates in Roman history;
Analyse the reasons behind the fall of the Roman Empire.
Week 7-8: Feudalism
Understand how feudalism began in Medieval Europe
Analyse how the feudal system worked
Discuss the events which led to its decline
Assess the role of the church
Be familiar with Medieval peasantry
Week 8-9: The Black Death
Trace the nature and causes of the Black Death
Understand the science behind the plague
Analyse how the plague affected Europe
Week 10-11: The Medieval Life
Describe the culture in towns and villages during the Middle Ages particularly jobs and industry
Identify the major events that defined the Middle Ages
Understand the reasons why certain tactics and weapons were utilised in Medieval Warfare
Week 12-13: The Crusades
Identify the key factors that contributed to the birth of the Crusades
Understand the establishment of the Crusader Kingdoms as a result of the First Crusade
Analyse the aims and importance of the First and Second Crusades during the early medieval period
Associate the developments in trade and science brought by the Crusades
Evaluate the political, economic, intellectual, and religious impact of the Crusades on Europe
Week 14-15: The Islamic Civilisations
Understand why the Ottoman Empire expand so quickly
Identify the key roles in the government of the Ottoman Empire
Describe the conflicts involving the Islamic world
Examine Islamic influence on Western Europe
Week 16-17: The Gunpowder Plot
Be familiar with the state of religion during the reign of the Tudor monarchs;
Understand the relation of James I to the Tudor Dynasty;
Discuss the causes and nature of the Gunpowder Plot;

I’m also a Cambridge International Education (CIE) History Assessment Specialist/ Assistant Examiner. I have professional development certifications in teaching CIE IGCSE, AS and A Level History.
I enjoy teaching students of different ability levels and cultural backgrounds and take pleasure in making the subject interesting for my students. I also like to help students achieve their academic potential and get students inspired about the world around them.
