Moreover, we will apply literary skills such as fluency, summary, inferences, and connection to modern science. Additionally, students will practice creating tone, engaging audience, and public speaking. To show their learnings, students will have the opportunity to research a famous black scientist and present their findings to the class during the last session. Hello! My name is Terry Brown, and I am a passionate and patient English Language Arts teacher who lives in the Twin Cities area. I have a MA in English from and Creative Writing Southern New Hampshire University and a BA in English from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
The courses that I teach include Preschool Courses, Upper Elementary and Middle School Literature (Fiction and Non-Fiction) and Science courses. During our class time together, we will develop active reading skills and analyzing relevant and age-appropriate texts.
My specialty is engaging students in close and active reading. We will mark up a book! I always strive to relate literature to the world around us. It is so awesome to watch students make connections to their reading.
When I am not teaching, I am a lifelong learner who enjoys perfecting my craft as a teacher. I also write short stories. Currently, I am working on writing a children’s chapter book.
