Shirley Chisolm was an extraordinary woman who broke racial and gender barriers in politics. Her hard work and determination prove to this day that women and people of color are capable of contributing to the world. Ms. Chisolm dedicated her life to bringing equality to all.  Shirley Chisolm was the first black woman in America to be elected into congress as a U.S. Representative. She helped pave the way for the people in politics today and was the very definition of  strength and boldness.

In this class, students will learn about the incredible life of Shirley Chisolm. We will talk about how her voice and actions made great changes across the country. Students will learn how she tore down barriers, becoming the first black congresswoman and the first black American to run for president.

This class will be very informative and it also connects to my other African American classes. This lesson will be interactive, and each student will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions. If you have any questions about the class or suggestions please send a message.
