Learning about the law and pivotal cases is inspirational. Who knows - through learning, students may be inspired to effect positive change in the world, or attend law school later in life. We will learn about landmark cases such as the 1954 Supreme Court decision that ended segregation in public schools (Brown v. Board of Education). We will also learn about the 1967 case in which the Supreme Court said it will no longer allow states to ban interracial marriage (Loving v. Virginia).

I will structure my course by outlining the elements of each case, and then discussing how they were decided by referencing the Constitution.

In the end, students will be asked to identify something they would like to change in the world. Students will be enhancing their analytical and speech skills in this class through applying their knowledge and sharing. This class will instill confidence in students to believe in their ideas, and convey them with clarity.

Please note, no transfers or refunds, within one week of class start date. Therefore, please ensure date and time works for you, prior to signing up for class.

Perfil
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I studied Psychology at Yale University, where I took courses in African American History. Next, I attended the University of Southern California Law School, and was fortunate enough to learn about the intersection of race and the law during my time as a scholar there. I have experience teaching children of all ages about complex issues. I used to teach Kindergarten at Nellis Airforce Base and I am also a mother, who regularly navigates these complex issues with her own child, since she is biracial in America.
