Contrary to the misconception that all Black people during slavery were submissive, many of them actively planned and participated in revolts to resist oppression and seek freedom. Nat Turner was one of many. In this class, we will explore the incredible life of Nat Turner, a brave and inspiring figure from American history. Nat Turner was an enslaved African American who resisted slavery by planning a revolt. We'll learn about his early life, the harsh realities of slavery, and his courageous act of resistance - the Slave Rebellion of 1831. Through discussions and engaging lessons, students will gain a deeper understanding of Nat Turner's story, motivations, the impact of his rebellion, and his enduring legacy in the fight against slavery. This class will be very informative and it also connects to my other history classes. This lesson will be interactive, and each student will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions. If you have any questions about the class or suggestions please send a message. This class could possibly go over 30 minutes, as I love to give all students the time speak if they chose to do so.
