How do you go to the bathroom in space? What was the space race? Who was the first astronaut? Which country launched the first satellite? Learn the answers to these questions and many more in "Bite-Size Science: Astronauts!" In this fun and engaging class, students will learn all about the early days of space flight and modern life on the International Space Station. Using kid-friendly presentation materials, teacher-led discussion, and brainstorming, learners will examine life as an astronaut. This course also introduces learners to early rocketry, early US and Soviet astronauts, and the "Space Race." I will provide students with copies of all course material used during the presentation. Students only need an inquisitive mind, a willingness to learn, and a basic understanding of science and history. I enjoy student questioning and discussion but each learner may participate as much or as little as the like. I'll see you in class! As a certified Earth and Space Science teacher, I have over ten years of science instruction experience. Teaching science is a passion of mine, and I am enthusiastic and engaging in my instruction style. I've been selected by NASA to present on its behalf to other Earth and Space Science teachers and at national educator conferences. I know you'll love my course!
It is my mission to help students become lifelong learners. I develop a good rapport with each student with my sense of humor, enthusiasm, and the ability to relate scientific concepts to students' everyday lives. While many students enter my class thinking science is boring, it is rare that they leave still believing so. I've won numerous awards and accolades for my highly-effective teaching strategies, and I know your young scholar will thrive in my classroom!
