Hello Outschool. Do you know your rights, and the rights of all persons living the United States? Did you know the rights that were originally created over 200 years ago are still relevant today? In this 5 Day Bill of Rights Camp students will learn about the first 10 amendments to the United States Constitution, and they will learn why those rights are more relevant than ever. This class will be taught based on the National Council of Social Studies Standards, and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. The 5 day course will be broken up based on the schedule below: Day 1 - Introductions - Kahoot Preview Game (What do you already know about the Bill of Rights?) - Who, What, When, Where, and Why the Bill of Rights was needed. - Introduction the 1st amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Review and Comic Book Explanation Day 2 - Introduction to the 2nd amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Introduction to the 3rd amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Introduction to the 4th amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Review Amendments 2-4 - Short Quiz using Quizizz Review Game Day 3 - Introduction to the 5th amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Understanding Due Process - Review the 5th Amendment - Short Quiz using Quizizz Review Game Day 4 - Introduction to the 6th amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Introduction to the 7th amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Introduction to the 8th amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Review Amendments 6-8 - Short Quiz using Quizizz Review Game Day 5 - Introduction to the 9th amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Introduction to the 10th amendment (Purpose and Relevance) - Review Amendments 9 and 10 - Kahoot Review Game All 10 Amendments The class will be taught using short lecture with the opportunity for students to express their ideas about each amendment. The students will participate in lots of discussion by way of Socratic Seminars and Philosophical Chairs. Each day will conclude with a review of the learned material by using a review game format (Quizizz or Kahoot). This course does not require any prior knowledge. It will primarily be an introduction to the first ten amendments. If students do have prior knowledge of the Bill of Rights, they are welcome to share their knowledge and ideas with the other students.

Students will learn the first ten amendments to the constitution, and apply their knowledge by relating how each amendment is still relevant today. Students will also apply their knowledge by creating a comic book illustrating each one of the amendments.

All content will be age appropriate. The most sensitive subjects could be the 2nd Amendment, or the Due Process Amendments (4-8).
