I know you have heard his name, but what do you know about Mr. Benjamin Franklin?
Do you know the biography of the man, the myths about him, or the common (but often incorrect) legend that is often repeated?

What do we really know about him?

Join me as we sort fact from fiction and truth from legend.

We will look at the significant events that transpired during his lifetime, and the role he played in the history of the new United States of America.

Topics to be Covered:

Early Life and Education: explore Benjamin Franklin's childhood, family background, and education, including his apprenticeship as a printer.

Entrepreneurship and Inventions: including his printing business, his invention of the lightning rod, and his contributions to the field of electricity.

Politics and Diplomacy: including his role in drafting the Declaration of Independence, his service as a diplomat, and his contributions to the Constitutional Convention.

Writing and Philosophy: including his work as a journalist, his writings on civic virtues and moral behavior, and his role in establishing the first public library in America.

Orientación para padres
Blooket is a game review platform. Learners are provided access codes unique for the class section that they enrolled in on Ben Franklin. Learners do not provide private information to access the review game. The code can be used for a limited time after the class has been attended. Google Forms is a link that I can send to the classroom that allows learners to rewatch a video clip or view images used in the lesson on their own time. Only learners with the link can view and use the Form. Google Jamboard is a teacher-created page that allows learners to post questions before the class and interact immediately after the class. The link is a one-time link only for learners in a specific class. The term "Founding Father' is commonly used by historians to describe people that were active in creating the United States of America as an independent nation. I do not use this term to take away from the thousands of men and women of all backgrounds who worked to create the USA. During class, I explain what this means to historians and why this term is used.
