Experiencia de clase

Grado de EE. UU. 4 - 7
Nivel Beginner
This course is for students in the beginning stages of learning to play ukelele. This course is designed for the beginner who has no previous experience, but does have space for additional challenges for students who are progessing more quickly in their skill set. More advanced students are encouraged to consider Moving on With Ukulele (Ages 9-12) which can be viewed here: https://outschool.com/classes/moving-on-with-ukulele-NMD4xQXT?usid=pCOswhG2&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

In each meeting of this class, we will practice playing, learn a song, and review topics related to instrument care and reading music. Over the four weeks of class, students will learn two chords that they will use to play four different songs. We will learn one new song each week in addition to reviewing songs from previous weeks.

Each week, students will be introduced to a new song that will provide context for practicing the chords learned during that week and previous weeks. Support materials are generated by the teacher and will be posted in the classroom after each class session. Support materials include digital files that are printable as well as short, topic-specific support videos.

Week 1:
   - Students will practice moving back and forth between the F chord and the C chord, and practice a song that utilizes these movements.
   - This class will include terminology for the parts of the ukulele.
Week 2:
   - Students will practice moving back and forth between the C chord and the G chord, and practice a song that utilizes these movements.
   - This class session will also review the importance of tuning and the variety of tuning support options for students.
Week 3:
   - Students will learn a song that incorporates moving between the C and F chords AND between the C and G chords, and practice a song that utilizes the movement between these three distinct chords.
Week 4:
   - Students will learn another song that features C, F, and G chords.

All students progress at their own personal rate. This course is designed for the beginner who has no previous experience, but also allows additional challenges for students who are progessing more quickly in their skill set.

Any student participating in class should plan to practice (play through) the material from class for 5-10 minutes per day. Each week's skill relies on the skill introduced during the previous week.

Class size ensures that all students have ample opportunities to participate actively and interact with the teacher. Learning activities leverage young children's natural inclination to move and channel energy to support successfully playing. Simple games, songs, and chants will be used to help the students learn naturally and enjoyably.

The ukelele is such a fun, accessible, and versatile instrument. I spent years training professionally as a musician but was never exposed to the ukulele until I was older. Playing ukelele is a thorough delight, and I always enjoy sharing that experience with students.

Lista de útiles escolares
- a soprano (20 inches), concert (23 inches), or tenor (26 inches) ukelele. Please note: This course is NOT suitable for a baritone ukelele (30 inches). The instructor will use a 23 inch concert ukelele.
 - a digital tuner (preferable) or access to GuitarTuna. Like a digital tuner, GuitarTuna "listens" to your ukelele and tells you whether a string is in tune when you play it. In order to do so, it will need access to your microphone (in order to "hear" your ukelele). A digital tuner is *preferable*, but GuitarTuna is a good substitute.
