Experiencia de clase

This ongoing beginning Hebrew class is designed for teenagers who would like to begin to learn Hebrew through easy conversational phrases while learning how to read and write through the Hebrew alphabet, and learn to count in Hebrew. I will use both block and cursive writing (and vowels) to introduce the learners to the different styles of texts in Hebrew. You will learn the styles of the block letters and some interesting history around the creation and design of the letters and what they mean. You will also learn some traditional Hebrew songs such as Oseh Shalom, Hineh Ma Tov and Yerushalim Shel Zahav.

Students will engage with the sounds of the Hebrew language by engaging in simple conversation with peers in the class. In this class, we will focus on simple conversational phrases and the spoken language as well as reading and writing and you will learn to conjugate pronouns and verbs.

Classes will also include drawing as a way to practice new vocabulary. It would be helpful if students have notebooks, pens, pencils and colored pencils every week for notes and drawings.

Week 1: Week of January 8th - Introduction and welcome phrases
Week 2: Week of January 15th - Introduction to the Hebrew alphabet (names and sounds of the letters)
Week 3: Week of January 22nd - Review of Hebrew letter names and sounds, introduction of Hebrew vowels and how they change the letter sounds
Week 4: Week of January 29th - Common phrases to use when travelling around Israel (shopping, eating, sleeping...)
Week 5 : Week of February 5th - How to write in Hebrew - both block and cursive writing
Week 6 : Week of February 12th - How to count in Hebrew - learning numbers

Each week we will review what we learned previously. Worksheets of the weekly lessons will be provided so you can practice.
