Introducción a las ciencias de la Tierra: Locos por el clima

In this one time class young learners will learn about all different types of weather.  They will learn about different types of clouds, different kinds of lightning and even different kinds of rainbows!

5 minutes-  This will be spent building background knowledge and discussing what learners already know about weather. 

30-35 minutes- I will read parts of the story "Weather" and share several pictures and facts about different common types of weather (rain, snow, wind, lightning, etc.).  I will stop frequently to discuss what we've learned, point out details from pictures, discuss key vocabulary and allow time for learners to share their own thoughts about what we've learned. I will also use this time to lead students in a fun activity where we will count how far away the pretend thunderstorm is :).  Learners will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts throughout the lesson.

5-10 minutes- I will wrap up the lesson by asking and answering questions about what each learner learned about weather.  Learners will have the opportunity to share what they learned/like about weather.

* PLEASE note that this class does tend to go over the scheduled time by a few minutes.  Great discussion usually happens amongst the learners.  Learning about weather gives everyone so much to talk about :).  If you need to leave class at the scheduled ending time I totally understand :)!  

* A lot of information will be shared during this lesson.  It may be helpful for your child to take notes (in the form of pictures or words) during the lesson to help solidify their learning.

* Follow up activities will be shared with all learners at the end of the class to help enhance their learning and understanding of weather.
