1 hora por semana. In order to help strengthen your child's cursive writing skills, I will post an activity after each class that will be an optional assignment. I like to create class activities to allow for further work on the taught concepts. Completion of the activity is up to parent discretion and therefore, if you choose for your child to complete, I'd love to see their work. I am always happy to provide feedback and comments for any child that takes on the class activity.Experiencia de clase

Did you know that learning cursive is actually good for your child's brain? That's right! Research has been conducted to study brain activity in children. Studies show that cursive writing stimulates different parts of the brain than in writing print or typing. Writing in cursive also increases fine motor skills, as well as helps readers learn how to pronounce letter blends. In this ongoing class, each class will focus on the four keys to legibility: shape, size, slant, and spacing to help learners understand the key aspects of good handwriting. We will also work on proper pencil grip and paper position to allow writing to flow more naturally and easily for your child. Proper posture is important to having good handwriting! With many opportunities for repetition and practicing these basic skills, your child will begin to notice progress and how their writing has transitioned into a more smooth, and rhythmic flow. With an ongoing class, your child can join in at any time! My goal is to help your child develop good handwriting skills and learn lowercase and capital letters so come for one lesson or the entire course, whichever works best for you! Each week, learners will be taught how to write letters based on the week's cursive stroke. Teaching letters by their formation helps learners master the letter more easily as they are consistent practicing that stroke for the taught letters. (see schedule below). Using this weekly stroke focus, we will work on not only letters but also writing short words. During the lessons, your child will have time to interact with some writing games that will utilize their cursive writing skills. Additionally, your child, should they choose to, can share their writing and interact with others. Recognizing others hard work and efforts is a positive way to let your child and others know their practice is paying off! Finally, to allow for group work and individual 1:1 teacher-student time, breakout rooms may be used during the lesson. **Please send me a message if you have another day/time you prefer and I'll work to set up a new section. Please note this section meets once a week; however, if you are interested in having your child meet 2 times a week, please explore my other course for cursive. https://outschool.com/classes/cursive-handwriting-club-learning-cursive-letters-from-a-z-3R4lAbmC#usfLya0wn1 Week 1 lowercase letters (i, t, u, w, e, l, b) Week 2 lowercase letters (h, f, k, r, s, j, p) Week 3 lowercase letters (a, d, g, o, c, q) Week 4 lowercase letters (n, m, y, x, v, z) Week 5 capital letters (A, O, D, C, E) Week 6 capital letters (N, M, H, K, U, Y, Z, V, W, X) Week 7 capital letters (I, J , Q, T, F, G, S, L, P, R, B) Week 8 games and writing activities to apply knowledge of cursive writing using all letters (dependent upon if learners want this extra practice week) Materials: Lined paper *Note: I will send out lined paper should you wish to print it. Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
As a Nationally Board certified teacher and one who spent many years in 2nd and 3rd grade, I love teaching handwriting. Although many may find handwriting to be antiquated, there are so many benefits to learning how to write properly. Teaching cursive was always one of my favorite units. Many children find handwriting to be laborious, but I always work to make it a fun and exciting adventure. You will find my teaching style to be very energetic and enthusiastic and I want your child to feel vested in learning cursive as we explore and learn how to have great cursive handwriting. I hope you'll join in to experience the excitement and joy that can come with handwriting!
