Experiencia de clase

**This class is a "Part 2" of my Introduction to the Violin course. If your student is a complete beginner, please enroll in that course first. If you are not sure what level your student should be in, please feel free to sign up for a private trial lesson and I will recommend a level.**

Do you already know the basics of playing the violin and want to learn some new music in a fun and engaging environment with other friends your age? Maybe you're looking for a fun supplement to your private lessons? Well, you're in the right place. I am a professional, conservatory-trained violinist and I absolutely love to share my love of music with my students. My class sizes are kept intentionally small to ensure effective interaction with each learner. This class pairs very well with private lessons. If you are interested in 1-on-1 instruction, please see my profile for my private lesson offerings.

PREREQUISITES:
-Must have a violin in playable condition
*If your violin does not already have finger tapes, please message me BEFORE class begins
-Students should already have basic experience playing the violin or have completed my Intro to Violin course.
-Students should be familiar with left hand fingers on the string
-The ability to read music is not required as we will begin learning this together

In this exciting Violin Camp, beginning violin students will continue their studies while improving technique, tone production, musicality, and overall setup and beginning to learn how to read music. I will choose the specific songs and exercises for each week of the camp based on enrollment and the general level of our group and will adjust the pace as needed. I may adjust the material according to the needs of the students enrolled.

The structure of the camp is designed to be fast-paced while still giving the learner a chance to practice what we have covered in class that day and let the new material settle in. Here is a sample breakdown of what the camp may look like. Again, it is my goal for every child to leave the camp feeling confident, empowered, and proud of their accomplishments. To this end, I may adjust the pace and material according to the needs of the group, whether that means covering more or less material.

SAMPLE SCHEDULE
Class 1: Ice breaker. Review violin setup, bow exercises, and mini songs
Class 2: Warm up and review. Begin note reading
Class 3: Warm up and review. Notes on D string. Part 1 of song

Orientación para padres
It would be very helpful if parents could tune their violin in between classes. This is something that I would normally do for them at this level, so I must rely on parental assistance with this. I've created a short video tutorial to help you with this process: https://youtu.be/ucAT5NnIr2s Since we will be playing the violin in this class, it is important that I am able to see and hear the student. The student should have their video on throughout each class and be situated in a quiet room where they can both listen and be heard. Due to the nature of the online platform, we cannot all play at the same time. I will utilize the mute function during class as needed to take turns playing.
Lista de útiles escolares
-Students should have an appropriately sized violin and bow in playable condition. If you are unsure what size violin to get or have questions about buying/renting a violin, please send me a message prior to the start of the course.
-A shoulder rest or sponge is highly recommended (please make sure you get the correct size for your violin)
-Rosin and a microfiber cleaning cloth
-Finger tapes (if they do not already have them). Please see links below to purchase.
-A chromatic tuner app will be very helpful to tune their instruments. Any free chromatic tuner on the app store will do. I recommend the one called Tuner Lite on the Apple app store.
-Students should come to camp each week prepared with a pencil, their instrument and music, and their cameras on for the duration of the camp.
-Students should come to camp each week prepared with a pencil, their instrument and music, and their cameras on for the duration of the camp.
-I will share my screen to show sheet music during class, but some printing may also be necessary

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I am a professional violinist in the Sarasota Orchestra and hold both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Violin Performance from two of the top music conservatories in the country. I have toured extensively with stars such as Josh Groban, Michael Buble, and Andrea Bocelli. I've been teaching the violin both online and in person for over a decade and have experience teaching students of all ages and experience levels from 5 years old to adult. In addition to my year-round private studio, I spend my summers serving as artist faculty at several prestigious music camps including the Dali Quartet International Music Festival in Philadelphia and the Porterville Strings Summer Workshop in California.

My current and past students have won auditions for prestigious arts high schools as well as their All State youth orchestras and have even won positions in regional orchestras. I believe that every student has the potential to learn the violin with the right instruction. Every child learns in their own unique way, so I tailor my teaching style to meet the needs of my students. My goal is to create a friendly and encouraging environment so your child can learn and grow confidently as a musician.
