Conversaciones en español para principiantes: Introducción al español

En esta clase, los estudiantes aprenderán vocabulario nuevo en español, practicarán la expresión oral con oraciones completas y practicarán mediante juegos interactivos y divertidos. Esta es una clase continua para que los estudiantes puedan seguir aprendiendo un tema nuevo cada semana.

Learners will receive a certificate of complete after completing all 26-weeks of content. Any additional feedback, such as a progress report or letter grade, can be requested by reaching out to the teacher directly.

Experiencia de clase

In this class, we will learn commonly used vocabulary in Spanish and answer and talk in complete sentences in Spanish.  As I teach the class, I will use a combination of English and Spanish with the students to teach and ask questions.  This class is a fun way to start learning Spanish (no prior experience necessary).  Students will be provided with a handout to print or students can choose to use a blank piece of paper and pencil to write down notes and examples from the lesson.  Join the class any week as new topics will be discussed according to the schedule below! 


Week of July 15th will cover Greetings in Spanish.
Week of July 22nd will cover Family vocabulary in Spanish.
Week of July 29th will cover Grocery Store and food vocabulary in Spanish. 
Week of August 5th will cover Parts of the Body in Spanish.
Week of August 12th will cover Clothing vocabulary in Spanish.
Week of August 19th will cover Parts of the House in Spanish.
Week of August 26th will cover Furniture in Spanish. 
Week of September 2nd will cover Parts of the School in Spanish.
Week of September 9th will cover School Subjects in Spanish. 
Week of September 16th will cover Activities in Spanish.
Week of September 23rd will cover Sports in Spanish. 
Week of September 30th will cover Food in Spanish. 
Week of October 7th will cover Colors in Spanish. 
Week of October 14th will cover Weather in Spanish. 
Week of October 21st will cover Travel in Spanish. 
Week of October 28th will cover Holiday 1 in Spanish.
Week of November 4th will cover School Supplies in Spanish. 
Week of November 11th will cover Feelings in Spanish. 
Week of November 18th will cover "I like" statements in Spanish. 
Week of November 25th will cover Animals in Spanish. 
Week of December 2nd will cover Safari Animals in Spanish. 
Week of December 9th will cover Beach in Spanish.
Week of December 16th will cover Stores in Spanish.
Week of December 23rd will cover Holidays 2 in Spanish.
Week of December 30th will cover Christmas traditions in different Spanish-speaking countries.
Week of January 6th will cover New Year's traditions in different Spanish-speaking countries.

Additional materials will be used as well. Quizlet vocabulary sets are also available as an additional resource for students to review vocabulary. Games, flashcards, and practice quizzes are available for students in Quizlet to access outside of class to further their exposure. YouTube may be used in class as I share my screen to display songs and videos that correlate to the weekly topic.

I earned a B.A. in Spanish from Grace College in Indiana.  I had the opportunity to live and study in Madrid, Spain where I was immersed in the language and culture.  I have formal experience teaching Spanish in a Texas middle school classroom for three years and have four years of experience teaching virtually.
