In this engaging, interactive circle-time-style class beginner readers will build essential early reading skills using proven Science of Reading strategies. Through a mix of decodable books, flashcards, interactive games, and multisensory activities, students will develop confidence in reading sight words and CVC (consonant vowel consonat) words while strengthening phonemic awareness.

Topics: 
Sight words (the, and, is, can, we, you) to build instant word recognition.
CVC words (cat, dog, map, sun, bed, hop) to strengthen decoding skills.
Phonemic awareness skills, such as blending and segmenting sounds.
Science of Reading-based strategies, including tapping, finger tracing, and skywriting to reinforce letter-sound connections.
Fluency practice using decodable books created by the teacher to build confidence in reading full sentences.  


Each class follows a consistent and engaging routine:
Warm-up activity – A fun phonemic awareness game or movement-based activity
Sight word practice – Flashcards, word hunts, or other interactive activities
CVC word decoding – Blending, segmenting, and reading short words
Decodable book time – Reading together with guided support.
Interactive game or review – Reinforce learning with movement-based or digital games.

I use an interactive, multisensory approach that engages young learners through:
Hands-on activities like tracing, tapping, and movement games.
Engaging visuals through slides and real-life word connections.
Interactive storytelling with decodable books.
Small group discussions where students actively participate in reading activities.
