PLEASE READ under the schedule to find out if the section of your choice is a new class or not. ///On note-taking and having note-taking supplies of your choice/// Note-taking is optional, but if your learner wish to retain what he/she is learning, or fully participate in games which are based on class materials, I highly advise the learners to take some notes. I'm putting this here in writing because I've had some parents who were unhappy with their learners having to take notes, or remember what I taught in class to fully enjoy the class activities. So yes, having note-taking supplies with you before class starts is highly recommended. ***46 hiragana are introduced in the first 7 lessons along with different topics that we cover each lesson, but the class will not cover hiragana again once it is past learning the letters. ***No topics will be repeated, therefore you can jump in any time to learn new topics each lesson. ***Each section started at different time of the year per the request of learners starting school at different months. ***Each section of the class will require at least 3 students to open. When there aren't enough students to start a class, the starting date will be postponed to the following week or cancelled. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// 1st Semester SCHEDULE ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ★━━━━━━━★━━━━━━━★ These sections are new, and they will start from Wk1 of 1st semester materials. ***These sections will be cancelled or postponed to the following week if the minimum enrollment of 3 is not met by the posted time and dates in parentheses. All morning sections will not be meeting. Some sections may extend to mid June or July depending on my availability as well as how many of the students will stay together as a section. So if you really like your classmates, please talk with each other and let me know if you'd like to stay together as a class. It will make planning easier for me, as well as for you :) ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How is your class structured? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: We will meet in zoom for 30 minutes once a week. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How will you teach? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: On zoom through Outschool platform. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What's your teaching style? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Easy-going, but perhaps because of the subject I teach, most students are really respectful, which I truly appreciate. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Learning a foreign language is all about interaction!! There will be interactive class activities for informal assessments. Pair activities/assignments are designed to develop each student's 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Any required experience or knowledge learners need? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: This is a beginner's class, but students will learn hiragana outside of class on their own with recommended materials.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will strengthen their ability to create with language, converse on familiar topics that are commonly introduced in beginner levels, and build vocabulary and grammar toward intermediate-low level.

Certified teacher for Japanese (EC-12), Mandarin(EC-12) and Art(EC-12). I grew up speaking Japanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese, so I have no problem mixing them up to meet your need. Many years of freelance tutoring experience for Japanese and Mandarin have helped me teaching all levels of Japanese including Pre-AP and AP classes at my former employment at a public high school.
I am also experienced in curriculum building for 4 years of Japanese language education based on ACTFL proficiency standards as a former school teacher. As I teach more and more students from all over the world, I have become more familiar with CEFR rating as well as GCSE tiers.
I am an active board member of JTAT(Japanese Teacher's Association of Texas) and I host workshop webinars for JTAT members as well as give presentations at foreign language teachers' conferences to offer opportunities to learn new skills, new strategies, and best practices.
