This class is for young learners who can already play chess, but haven't yet gotten a firm handle on tactics and strategy - a great followup course to take after finishing one of our "Become a Chess Pro: Intro for Beginners" courses.  Some of the lessons include taking a deeper look at the strategies discussed in the previous course, while other lessons introduce brand new topics altogether.  Each week's lesson starts with about 30 minutes of explanation and discussion, followed by, for the remaining duration of each class, virtual chess games between the classmates, supervised by the instructor.  

Schedule of Lessons (first 30 minutes of each class):
Week 1:  Review of Basic Rules & Introduction to Chess Notation
Week 2:  Scholar's Mate & Fool's Mate
Week 3:  Back Rank Checkmate
Week 4:  Smothered Mate
Week 5:  Arabian Checkmate & Hallway Checkmate
Week 6:  Knight & Queen Checkmate (and other attacks)
Week 7:  The King & Queen Sandwich Checkmate
Week 8:  Conclusion:  Review, Chess Puzzles, and more

Week 2:  Practice Games with instructor coaching
Week 3:  Practice Games with instructor coaching
Week 4:  Practice Games with instructor coaching
Week 5:  In-class tournament Round 1 games

Week 7:  In-class tournament Round 3 games
Week 8:  Awards Ceremony (all students will be sent certificates of completion and tournament award ribbons)
