Este será un curso de filosofía que tratará sobre el mismísimo Batman, el cruzado con capa. Hablaremos de temas como la ética, la justicia y el existencialismo. Creo que puede ser una buena manera de que el estudiante desarrolle un interés por la filosofía.

1-2 horas por semana. I will not assign homework, but will request that the student read whether it be a particular Batman story, and the philosophical topic that will be discussed. I am more than open for the student to look at videos on YouTube for reference material.Calificación

Nivel Intermediate
This will a philosophical class in connection with the world of Batman. I will discuss topics in philosophy such as ethics, justice, existentialism, and friendship. I want there to be a lot of discussion, and not me lecturing. I want to have the student be a part of the class, where I feel I can learn something from them. I will start with an intro, and give a brief description of the philosophical topic, and the Batman story where this is made evident, and then open it up for discussion. I always welcome people to ask questions, and not to be afraid to voice your opinion. I would encourage interaction. We will not be watching videos together in class, but I may request the student to read, or have an idea of some of the stories we will be discussing.

I feel this is a great way to have the student take up an interesting in philosophy, which is still relevant today. If after this class, they will not only read Batman, but philosophy, then I feel it has been a success.

Ethics, Is it morally right to have a Robin?
This is part two on dealing with ethics? This focuses on Robin. Why does Batman have a Robin? Is it moral to put someone in harms way. We will look at the different versions of Robin, such as Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Batman's own son, Damian Wayne. 50 minutos de lección en vivo en línea

Justice, No Mans Land, Keeping Law and Order in Gotham City
This is the first of two classes dealing with justice. This will focus on the mini series No Mans Land. It is about when Gotham City was divided after a major earthquake, and how Batman tried to maintain Law and Order after a major collapse. 50 minutos de lección en vivo en línea

Justice, The Joker's Wild Can we hold the Joker accountable for his actions?
This will focus on the Joker, and the question of how morally accountable is the Joker for all he has done. Is by simply pleading insanity enough to alleviate him from responsibility. We will focus on what makes someone accountable. Is there a difference between justice and revenge? We will focus on "The Killing Joke", and "The Devils Advocate". Some of the topics in this class may be considered controversial by some. We will be dealing with trauma, what is evil, and why some people are the way they are. I will be more than happy to talk to any parents that have any concerns or questions.
Requisitos previos
There are no prerequisites for this class though having an interest, and some knowledge of Batman will certainly help. If one also has taken some introduction to philosophy that will be a benefit as well.
