Welcome to the Trigonometry course! Over the next two sessions, we will explore the fundamental concepts of trigonometry, focusing on understanding angles, the unit circle, and the basic trigonometric functions. This course will provide a strong foundation for further studies in mathematics and its applications in various fields such as physics, engineering, and computer science.

Week 1Lesson 1Understanding Angles and the Unit CircleObjectives To understand the concept of angles and how they are measured. To learn about radians and degrees as units of angle measurement. To explore the unit circle and its significance in trigonometry. To identify the coordinates of key points on the unit circle. Topics Covered Angles and Their Measurement The Unit Circle Reference Angles Activities Interactive discussion on how angles are used in everyday life. Practice problems converting between degrees and radians and drawings.Week 2Lesson 2Basic Trigonometric FunctionsObjectives To define and understand the basic trigonometric functions: sine, cosine, and tangent. To learn how to evaluate trigonometric functions using the unit circle. To explore the relationships between the trigonometric functions. Topics Covered Sine, Cosine, and Tangent Functions Graphing Trigonometric Functions Applications of Trigonometric Functions Activities Practice problems evaluating sine, cosine, and tangent for various angles. Plotting basic graphs and solving basic equations
- Students will learn the background of trigonometry, ratios, derivation of ratios and application of these.
I have been teaching this topic for the last 8 years. I am an engineer as well and that is why I emphasize the practical perspective of this course. Basically, I want to help students understand it more practically and love it rather than trying to avoid it.
