In this live, hands on teacher led class, students will learn the basics of making balloon animals. They will learn to pinch, fold, twist, and lock ballon segments to each other to create a balloon dog! The students will follow the teacher as she models and guides the step by step demonstrated practice. In our first class, we will practice blowing up balloons, tying off the balloon, and hopefully begin making the dog in live time with the teacher. Learning a new skill can be challenging! As with anything new, repeated practice, patience, and time are essential to being successful. For this reason, I will meet with students a second time! In our second meeting, I will answer questions and repeat the demonstration. We will continue to practice all our new moves and hopefully, show off our final products! Learning to make balloon animals is no different, but it is definitely a lot of fun! Participating in this class will also help improve fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and foster creative expression, not to mention patience and persistence. I bet you didn’t think a balloon class would teach all that! By the end of the two session class, students will have had lots of fun and hopefully learned how to make the ever popular balloon dog animal. For fast learners, I am prepared to teach the giraffe. Where do I buy the balloons for class? I have listed the materials you will need for this class in the materials section. They can be purchased inexpensively at several online shops.Check it out! I look forward to "twisting" with you!
Metas de aprendizaje
This is also a great class for physical, rehabilitative, and emotional therapy.

Orientación para padres
I am often asked, who invented balloon art? Some say the Aztecs first made balloons by using the inflated bladders of deceased animals. No visual here! Did they make dogs, giraffes, and other animals too? I would like to mention this interesting fact. Do you mind?
Lista de útiles escolares
Students will need 3-5 pre-tied balloons. (Accidents do happen) I think it is better to have what you need rather than to need what you don't have. That said, they will need 1-3 untied balloons for practice in blowing up and tying balloons. I recommend using the balloon art ballons style 260 or 260q. These are latex, inflate to a 2” diameter, and 60” long. These are the most common used in the industry. Students will also need a hand held pump (or someone with strong lungs to come to class!) Manual blowing up by mouth can be very time consuming and hard to do! I prefer a pump for sanitary reasons too! A permanent marker like a Sharpie and stickers are OPTIONAL. They can be used to decorate and personalize your balloon animal. Amazon prime is a great place to find balloon art balloons and pumps. If you need further assistance, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked with children in a different capacity. I was a professional clown and performed at local birthday parties and community events. Balloon art was then, and still is, very popular with "children" of all ages.
