CLASS STRUCTURE: In this 4 week-long dance course we will work more extensively and more in-depth in our ballet technique. We will start by focusing on detail, strength and coordination through ballet exercises using the barre (you can use a wall/ chair/ any piece of furniture around waist-height, accessible in your home). We will work on musicality, lower leg and core strength, clarity and an overall understanding of the dance discipline through the ballet lens. After we explore multiple exercises we will move away from the barre and go through a few center exercises. In the end there will be some time for discussion and answering any questions that might have come up during the class. Each week we will progressively be adding complexity and working on concepts discussed in the previous classes. In addition, a sense of a virtual community will be created where the learners will be encouraged to ask questions and share their own ideas and artistic input on suggested topics. After the class ends, I will suggest that the learners take some time to cool down the body and stretch in order to prevent future injuries (I can provide them with exercises to do on their own upon request). THE MATERIAL AND CHOREOGRAPHY TAUGHT IN THIS WORKSHOP IS DIFFERENT EVERY TIME IT IS OFFERED, SO THE SAME STUDENTS CAN TAKE IT MULTIPLE TIMES. EXPERIENCE: This class is for students who have a few months/years of ballet experience. After you have completed this class a few times, I will let you know if you are ready to take the second part of this workshop ("Ballet Workshop-Intermediate Part 2) during which we will work a little bit more rigorously. I also offer Beginner and Advanced level ballet classes so this class is designed for students who don't necessarily fall under either of those two categories. If you are not sure if this class is right for your level or age do not hesitate to reach out and I will make sure we find the best fit that will serve your learner's individual needs. SCHOLARSHIPS & DISCOUNTS: (Please contact me for more info on how to apply for either of these offerings) -All BIPOC students interested in my classes automatically receive a 50% discount off of every class they attend. -If you are experiencing recent loss of income due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are unable to afford any of my classes, please don't hesitate to reach out and I will make any necessary adjustments to make the classes affordable to you. -Mentorship scholarships are available for dancers demonstrating exceptional drive and commitment in their classes. MAKING DANCE ACCESSIBLE: -These classes are for ALL and ANY bodies interested in investigating movement. If your learner has a disability feel free to contact me in advance and we can discuss ways we can make them accessible to them. -Language: English doesn't have to be your first language to take any of these classes nor do you need to be proficient in it (In fact it's not my first language either!). Just make sure you let me know in advance so that I find other creative ways to communicate with your learner as they are taking the class. Please refer to my profile for Frequently Asked Questions.
Metas de aprendizaje

Just a few logistics before we get started:
It is nice to join the zoom meeting a few minutes early (if possible, otherwise no worries) so that I can help you with your setup. Just make sure you are wearing comfortable clothes (if you have ballet attire, that's great, but if not that is totally fine). Find a room with some space to move (you may have to move some furniture around and make sure there is no cords or things you might trip over) and place your device on the floor so I can see your full body as you are moving. Other than that you are all set and ready to get moving!
Lista de útiles escolares
