In this 4 week festive fun flex class students will learn how to successfully draw a Christmas girl in the anime style with step by step instructions. We will then go on to learn how to draw and colour super cute cats and kittens in the Kawaii and Anime style. We will draw 3 different cats all with cute Christmas accessories like in a Santa hat, reindeer ears and sleeping on some cookies or in a stocking! Kawaii means 'cute' in Japanese and Kawaii style drawings have expressive and adorable faces to give them cute personalities. This is great for encouraging creativity in your learner as they can easily make up stories to go along with their dynamic drawings. 

I will give a brief introduction to anime before starting the first tutorial and this will be a great opportunity to get the students talking about what they do or don't know about anime and manga and what they love about Christmas in the classroom chat. My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well and pointing out where they can improve. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. I like to use slides and live drawing to demonstrate how to draw. The students will need some plain paper, an eraser, sharpener and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art and how to draw!

Week 1: Anime Christmas Girl Drawing. We will go over tips and tricks to achieve an authentic anime style drawing. Starting with the shape of the face, we will then go over how to map out where all the features will go and how to draw the eyes, nose, mouth and hair in an easy and achievable way. We will go over different hair styles you could add and will also learn how to draw the body in this class - with fun festive outfits for our anime Christmas girl. 

Week 2: This week we will focus on inking, colouring techniques and extra Christmas accessories we can add to our Anime Christmas girl. We will learn how to draw cute Christmas things on your anime girl like a Santa hat, bells in the hair, reindeer hairband, Christmas tree earnings, elf ears - and more! Individuality and creativity is encouraged! 

Week 3: Meowy Christmas! Next we will learn how to draw a super cute anime Christmas cat! We will learn how to make its eyes sparkle and dress it up in all things Christmas. We will also colour and ink in this lesson. 

Week 4: Time for Kawaii! In this last week we will draw two super kawaii (cute!) kittens - all ready for the Christmas festivities. One will be cheekily sitting inside of a stocking and the other will be dressed up like Santa! We will go through step by step and learn effective ways to colour and ink.

*This is a flexible schedule class. Each lesson will be delivered via a prerecorded video that will be uploaded into the classroom every week. Video time may vary but the work time for students will be around an hour long. Learners will then upload a photo of their art work that they complete each week in the classroom. This way I can check for proper understanding of the techniques and concepts, as well as give feedback to the students. They may share with me privately or publicly in the classroom tab. Each student may comment on each others' art works with positive and constructive words in order to to develop a sense of community in the class. They can also leave video clips of themselves describing their art work along with any questions they may have for me and the other students. I will also be using fun questions in the classroom relating to anime in order to create anime and art based conversation between the students!
