Each week, readers will bring a book they are reading or have read recently to share with each other. Readers will be invited to tell us about the book, to give us a summary of the book, and read us an excerpt if they would like.

Throughout sharing time, we will talk about different genre of books and author craft (you can see the monthly plans below).

I will also share excerpts from different books to help encourage readers to try different genres and styles. After class, I will provide a list in our Outschool classroom of books shared during each class.

This class is designed to follow the lead of the learners each week. At times, we may take a moment to try an author or illustrator’s techniques or to compare and contrast books.

I hope this class inspires learners to read often, recognize writing styles they enjoy, try new genres, confidently speak to others about their books, and to connect to other avid readers.

This is on ongoing class for students to share their love of reading. Students may attend every meeting, join, or stop membership at any time.

***Readers are welcome to share any books with age appropriate content. From picture books to chapter books, non-fiction, fiction, poetry... During this class, I will share a variety of picture books, non-fiction books, and chapter books.

During each class, students will have the opportunity to share anything that they would like about their books. Each month, we will focus on telling a little more about our books. Here is the breakdown for conversation focus points for each month:

April/May: Students will each have a chance to tell us about any book that they have been reading. Along with anything else students want to tell about their book, during this time, we will focus on telling the author and illustrator’s names.

June: Students will each have a chance to tell us about any book that they have been reading. Along with anything else students want to tell about their book, during the month of June, students will be encouraged to share who they would recommend this book to “I would recommend this book to someone who is interested in…I would recommend this book to someone who likes books with a lot of action...”

July: Students will each have a chance to tell us about any book that they have been reading. Along with anything else students want to tell about their book, during the month of July, we will focus on making connections to our books. Did something happen in your book that reminded you of something in your own life or another book?

NOTE: This class is priced very low in hopes children will be able to invite friends or siblings to join. Since it is a social class and priced much lower than recommended, it does need to meet minimum enrollment of 4 children to run.

Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.

- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!

I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
