Experiencia de clase

Automotive Maintenance & Repairs can be difficult to show in a detailed & timely manner in a live classroom setting, so that is why I decided to make this series a 5 week Flex Class! I will be teaching and demonstrating how to do some of the most frequent and common maintenance tasks: Jacking Up a Vehicle, Changing the Engine Oil, Rotating Tires, Finding & Fixing Tire Leaks, Introduction to Diagnosing Vehicle Drift/Pull Problems, and How to Jump Start & Diagnose the Cause of a Dead Battery.

*Having a little automobile knowledge as a foundation to build upon will be very helpful before taking this series as we will be going over maintenance and common repairs.

Each Monday I will give you 3 Assignments to be done in consecutive order: 1) Watch video(s) 2) Take Quiz 3) Submit OPTIONAL Homework Project. They will all be due by Sunday night!

Assignment 1) I will post 1-2 new video links for students to watch of private "unlisted" YouTube videos that I have created. In the videos, I will demonstrate (on vehicles) and talk through how to do the above mentioned maintenance tasks.

Assignment 2) To followup the video(s), I will post some short quiz questions into the classroom to further help the students in retaining what they have just learned from the videos. Learners will be expected to individually complete these short quizzes.

Assignment 3) For homework each week in response to the video lesson, students will be encouraged (not required) to post a miniature project to the classroom page in which they will be demonstrating or talking through what they learned while applying it to their own car(s). These projects can be submitted either in the form of a video or the form of pictures with explanations.
Acceptable project options:

1) A learner can submit their own VIDEO-DEMONSTRATING how to do the particular maintenance on their car that we learned about in the lesson.
OR
2) A learner can submit their own VIDEO-TALKING THROUGH how to do the particular maintenance on their car that we learned about in the lesson (if they don't have the tools available or comfort level yet to demonstrate).
OR
3) A learner can submit their own PICTURES-supplemented with typed explanations about how to do the particular maintenance on their car that we learned about in the lesson.

Students are encouraged to post positive comments and questions on each others projects, and I will also be posting positive comments, feedback, suggestions, and/or questions on students' posts.

*I know we are all very busy! My goal is not for this to take much of your free time, but simply to help ensure you retain all that you learned by putting it into some practice. Please message me if you have any questions regarding the homework assignments!

*Hands-on practice can be extremely helpful in retaining knowledge. Though NOT required for this Flex series, learners are encouraged to try these maintenance tasks on their/your own vehicles if you choose, but ONLY WITH ADULT SUPERVISION AND IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE! Safety is priority, therefore it is very important to have guidance and supervision when doing any particular maintenance and repair for the first time!

Class Schedule:

Week 1: Jacking Up, Supporting, & Lowering Your Vehicle Safely

Week 2: Changing Engine Oil (2014 Honda Accord as example)

*Week 3: Rotating Tires; Review Changing Engine Oil (2018 Subaru Outback as example)
*A 2nd short video will be provided about Diagnosing Vehicle Drifts/Pulls because they often pertain to tire positions

Week 4: Finding Tire Leaks; Plugging a Leak, & Strategy Behind It

Week 5: How to Jump Start & Diagnose the Cause of a Dead Battery
