This class will talk about the black hole at the center of M87, and our own black hole, at the center of our galaxy. We will talk about the electromagnetic spectrum, the theory of general relativity, the anatomy of a black hole, the technology that has allowed these observations and these images and how it is that we can observe an object that swallows everything, even light.

This class lasts approximately one hour, but that will depend on the interaction with the student. It may take  longer if we have long and interesting conversations about these fascinating topics. Please keep this in mind when you sign up for the class.
During class, students may and are encouraged to ask as many questions as needed. These are fascinating, complex topics in which no one should be left behind.
