I have been signing now for over 15 years. In college (2009-2014), I had a deaf roommate. That caused me to pursue fluency in sign language. Even though I got my degree in Elementary Education, I took ASL classes all during college. Along with that, I completely immersed myself in the world of the Deaf. I attended a deaf church, deaf camps, and several interpreter conferences. Along with all of that, I learned most by spending every moment of my free time with many interpreters and deaf friends. I would go to deaf activities such as game nights and Starbucks meets with my local deaf community.

After college, I received my Florida interpreter certification and worked as a sign language interpreter for several years. I interpreted for college classes, church, chapel services, staff meetings, video relay services, concerts, appointments, training etc. I also taught sign language to high-school students for 3 years. At times, I have also taught elementary students at schools, camps, and churches. Some classes were one-time classes while other classes lasted for one week. I am currently teaching a deaf children's class at my church. I also have many deaf friends that I communicate with on a regular basis.
